…Identifying what Wisdom of God means!
:
“So that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption” – 1 Corinthians 1:29‭-‬30 ESV
:
In Christianity, which is the life God wants everyone to live, wisdom is not the same as that of what the world defines it to be. To say Christ has been made wisdom for us doesn’t suggest we might suddenly start solving mathematics without having to learn them. While this is possible by the power of the Holy Spirit, this is not the wisdom the word of God talks about.
:
Concerning Christ the Bible says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:1‭, ‬14 ESV
:
The above portion of the Bible is a pre-New Testament testimony concerning Jesus. However, it shows us a great deal who Jesus is. Jesus isn’t just any kind of man that got influenced by the Holy Spirit. No, Jesus is the word of God and this word became flesh and lived among the people of those days. The present reality though isn’t that He lived among people, by the Holy Spirit He lives in us and as His glory manifested in those days, His glory is manifesting through us even in a greater measure and by Him we also are Sons of the father! I teach this way so that believers can understand what the word says and what it reveals about their present reality.
:
Now, I needed to explain that Christ is the word of God made flesh so that we understand what the wisdom of God means and how Christ has been made wisdom for us. Let me add here that the word of God is the wisdom of God! We’ll understand it shortly. Let’s look at what the Bible says
:
“Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.” – 1 Corinthians 1:20‭-‬21 ESV
:
First, you see that the great wisdom of the Greeks was meaningless to salvation of man! The wisdom of this world is not the answer to the problem of humanity! In God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through their own wisdom! That is what the place we just read is saying! God made it that religion cannot find Him. They were building the tower of Babel thinking they would find God and in their own wisdom they were getting closer but at a point they became just very confused and languages increased further confusing them more and more! The cultures and traditions of man is largely based on their confusion. The more they try to bring out a solution, the more confused they are because it is not possible with human wisdom. No single philosophy, no single mathematics, no formula even the one called “Almighty” have answers to why man is here on earth, they can only solve petty problems. This is not to discredit anyone but this is to say that no human wisdom have ever solved the real issues of humanity.
:
To the Greeks, the gospel may be meaningless because they don’t know what it is but it is the wisdom of God and that is the only means of salvation to those who believe. Can you understand this now? Jesus is the word of God and when we teach the word we are communicating the wisdom of God to people! This is whom Christ has been made unto us, He has been made wisdom unto us. How is this very beneficial to the believer?
:
It means I do not care what the culture and traditions of men teach! I do not care what economists and all great world researchers say, I can live God’s word which is at odds with the wisdom of this world and I can experience success on all sides. This means I understand what they do not understand, I see good in everything and everything works for good to me! It is foolishness to the world but Jesus has been made wisdom from God to me. Jesus is both wisdom from God and the wisdom of God! For God to give us His wisdom, He gave us Jesus. The Bible continues saying
:
“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” – 1 Corinthians 1:18‭, ‬24 ESV
:
Can you see that? The word of the cross which is God’s word and act of salvation is His power to save those who believe! Those who don’t believe are described as those “who are perishing” and those who believe are described as those “who are being saved” and then the Bible says that to those who are called (that is those who have been saved) Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God! Can you see that? This is because Christ is the totality of God’s word and God’s word is His power and His wisdom. This is whom Christ has been made unto us.
:
When I am living the word of God, I am living out the wisdom of God! When I am confessing the word of God, I am declaring the wisdom of God. This is why we must so study the word that it becomes part of our culture, our language and our thinking! In this way, we are living our earthly life based on the reality of God’s wisdom whom Christ has been made unto us. The Bible says
:
“that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” – Colossians 2:2‭-‬3 ESV
:
Wow! In Christ, all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him which means it is not hidden to those who are in Him but to those who are not in Him. Unbelievers cannot have access to this! Christ is God’s mystery and this mystery has been made known to those who are in Christ. Right now, you can operate in this wisdom, you can live extraordinary. Christ is wisdom from God for you and no wonder the Bible says
:
“…But we have the mind of Christ.”
– 1 Corinthians 2:16 ESV
:
Blessings.
