This morning, reminiscing the happenstance of the past, romancing the memories I wish could play out again, waving at the ones I wasn’t proud of and nodding at the ones I felt good about, my mind started throwing up faces. I wish they had all stayed, if it was within my ability to make them stay. Yes, I have never had such a thing as best friend or best enemy, I can never say one person has been the one who was there at all times but I have had very good times with people.
:
There are people I can never say “this is the reason why we suddenly stopped communicating”, maybe we just got busier for ourselves. There were people I met once, it felt so good but it was meant to all end at that spot! There were people I met at fellowships but the moment we grew out of the fellowship it seemed life took new dimensions! There were people I met from the social media, we arranged a meeting and I thought maybe this was it but we suddenly became world apart… Maybe a friendship was never meant to happen. There are people who grew up with me, but at some point responsibilities took us all aside, each man on his own route. None stays forever…
:
I have come to realize that we must make every moment count, life is in duration and each duration we never lived is over and can’t be recalled back. In each phase of our life, we can be the best thing that ever happened to people around us. Our human weaknesses can leave a wrong impression at times but we can set records straight by sincerely being open and sorry for our mistakes. As we come across people, we are building bridges and it’s bad if we ever cross the bridge and break it afterwards. There won’t be any chance of coming back when the need be. Well, broken bridges can still be rebuilt when the need be… But be careful not to build a bridge that connects you to hell.
:
However, as we grow we must always allow certain commitments to be relieved of us. Some people can’t stay in our lives forever, they play their part and they leave. Sometimes we wish everyone stays but truth is we can’t carry everyone along, some have to drop on the road because they would eventually turn out to become huge distractions. We have to drop some very heavy baggage so that we can travel light. These baggage can also result from scars and wounds inflicted on us by the people we met. No matter how painful they are, we have to forgive them, forgive ourselves but also move on to avoid further scars. We ought to appreciate everyone who crossed our path and identified with us, this is what makes the story of our life worth telling and very unique.
:
Some dead friendships needs no resurrection, we can leave it dead but inasmuch as it is dead, let’s be appreciative of the roles they played in our lives. It helped in shaping us become who we are today. Let’s also be particularly appreciative to the ones who stayed back, they saw our shortcomings but still chose to stay.
:
I am not the “friend” type, I am kind of very secluded at times but I know the people I have met have helped in shaping me. I learnt from the negatives and positives. I am also grateful for anyone who has come to stay…
:
Let’s make every moment count.
It is intentional.
