The human sojourn on earth is faced with so many challenges, so many ups and downs, so many weaknesses and imperfections that sometimes it seems life isn’t fair for certain people. How does it seem certain people wake up to find themselves in options they never chose for themselves, diagnosed for sicknesses and infections they never ever imagined they would have? How does it seem when your life and existence on earth is threatened by rejections, lack of attention and too many mistakes?
:
Yes, we are humans and the book of Job described the human strength like “how much less man who is an insect, and the son of man who is a worm!” Job 25:6 (BBE). If there was anyone who had seen it all, Job would fit that description! Let’s not put the blame game on Job right now, let’s just focus on the context. Job was faced with it all, he lost his job, lost his family, lost his health and was faced with ailment as worse as AIDs, yes, I’d call it something like that because the devil made sure his immune system got altered! No one has ever seen it as Job did that to some point certain theologians are even questioning how true that story is.
:
How does it feel, waking up strong in the morning full of vigor and then suddenly you’re greeted with a sudden news of death, news of loss and all that? Or maybe you slept happily but woke up to discover rashes all over your body and then it transcends to more serious health complications? Job saw worse than these things and like it is always done he complained, got embittered, felt betrayed and his friends blamed him too! Have you prayed for God to roll over that stone and He didn’t? Have you prayed for instant healing, you watched others got healed and you didn’t? The Bible described Job as an upright man but so many unrighteous people lived better and healthier than him as at the time he was suffering.
:
How about Lazarus who lived all his life in sickness that he got handicapped to carter for himself, living at the mercies of the wicked stingy rich man. Yet, in the narrative, Lazarus was seen to be a man of faith. Like I had said earlier, let us not go further into blaming Lazarus for dying the way he did. I am painting all these pictures because someone needs to know that the struggle he is faced with isn’t peculiar to him alone. I once came across a white woman on Facebook who said she has been living with cancer for several years, she has seen God do the miraculous in the lives of people through her but she was not been healed of cancer. She said she isn’t disturbed because there is one thing she knows for sure… This is exactly what I have come to share with you. Regardless of the problems you are faced with, we may not answer why there isn’t an instant miracle for you, I cannot say it’s because you don’t have enough faith, I cannot say it’s because you have not prayed more, I cannot say it’s because you have not confessed the word enough… I may not have those answers but there is something that should keep you going… It is the love of God! God loves you beyond your imaginations.
:
Perhaps you may be feeling suspicious of this love, love that couldn’t prevent you from making mistakes, love that couldn’t prevent you from getting sick, love that couldn’t prevent you from making those terrible decisions… Well, we shouldn’t blame God for our woes but we also shouldn’t live in self condemnation and pity! God expresses His love towards us in different ways that we may never ever understand until we cross the other side. While Job got his deliverance on earth, Lazarus didn’t but they both ended up being forever healed, forever fulfilled and forever safe! There is no bigger and perfect healing than finding yourself in the place of eternal rest!
:
Now, I am not saying you don’t have to believe God for your healing, I am not saying you don’t have to trust God for a breakthrough, I am not saying you don’t have to be hopeful that you are experiencing the manifestation of God’s awesome glory here on earth but am saying you shouldn’t let what you go through change your perception towards God, don’t let it make you lose your love on Him. That is the devil’s ultimate goal; he capitalizes on your weakness to get you into making wrong decisions, running into debts, making wrong investments, having the wrong habits and all that… He uses all these things against you and tries using the results of these things to get you into doubting God! Apostle Peter wrote concerning this in 1 Peter 5:9 saying “Resist him, stand firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” (NIV)
:
On previous verses we see how the devil works against us and our faith, he uses our anxiety and wants of life. Sometimes he makes us try putting care into our own hands and we run into loss! In verse 6 Peter wrote “humble yourselves, therefore under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time”. How do we humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand? Verse 7 answers that by saying “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” Most times I had ever experienced loss and mistakes were times I got overwhelmed with the cares of this life, when I got too anxious on how to get things done. I know most of the time I made the wrong choices where when I went out on my own way to look for care and attention, when I went out on my own way to seek an end to lack.
:
It is in that time of need that devil comes! Through the wife of Job he wanted to get Job curse God and die! (Job 2:9) Yes, the devil wants you utterly destroyed and he can do that by inspiring you never to forgive your own mistakes and trust God. Whatever it is, it may take a while, it may even seem to take a life time but we should submit it to God and leave it up to Him. When you leave it up to Him, you will live up to Him. In verse 8 Peter explains how the devil surfaces in the time of anxiety and encourages us to be vigilant! He writes thus “be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” The ministry of the devil is to steal, kill and destroy! He steals your joy first if you allow him; he then kills your hope and destroys your chances! That is what he does… This is where resisting the devil comes in! You resist by knowledge, you resist him by faith! Faith comes by hearing God’s word as the Bible says in Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” You have to keep on trusting God; you have to keep on believing what God has said! This is what God is saying “neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:39 (NIV)
:
The struggles and troubles that you face, the choices you have made in life, the scars you have given to your name even as a believer, the terrible things you have done or have been done to you cannot stop God’s love for you. God is with you in every step no matter what lies ahead! Death and breath cannot stop Him from loving you… You may stop loving Him, what you thought about Him may change if you give the devil a chance to deceive you but it can’t change what God feels towards you. No mountain is too high, no ocean is too wide, no power is too great and no valley is too down to stop God’s love for you, not even the grave! The Bible says in Songs of Solomon 3:4 “Scarcely had I left them when I found him whom my soul loves; I held on to him and would not let him go until I had brought him to my mother’s house, And into the room of her who conceived me.” And Paul wrote to the Romans in 5:8 “But God proves His love for us in this: While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
:
What are you facing?
Is it the consequences of your mistakes?
Is it the consequences of other people’s mistakes?
Is it the fate of life or any problem at all?
Never lose your hold on God… If you do, where else can you go?
:
God loves you and in due time you’ll understand why certain things happen. Keep trusting Him and you’ll walk through those challenges! I see you overcoming in as much as you have overcome the world!
:
God bless you.
