“Send us around the world with the news of your saving power and your eternal plan for all mankind” – Psalm 67:2 (TLB)
:
The fulfillment of the prayer to send us around the world to preach the good news became possible by Jesus! Outside Jesus, no one ever preached the gospel (good news). When the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Jesus) was poured out, men were empowered to carry on the unfinished work of Christ which is to go around the world and preach the good news! You’re never wrong to go anywhere, anytime and any day around the world to preach the good news.
:
David prayed this prayer knowing that at that time God seemed to be a copyright of the Jews! He was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! He was the God of the founding fathers of Israel and it wasn’t necessary to preach Him to the gentiles, those who were rejected! They were without God, they weren’t under the covenant. But David had experienced the extraordinary grace of God that he shouted in excitement “oh God! You’re so sweet… Send us around the world to tell them about you!”
:
Going around the world with the gospel of Jesus is not a motivation of the feelings but the work of the Holy Spirit in us When you think of yourself alone, you’ll keep having problems! You’ll have enough problems that it disengages you entirely from carrying on the ministry of Jesus. If you can’t serve God in your little, you cannot serve Him when it gets bigger. Don’t try to get all you want before you serve Jesus. Life is very short…. What is a hundred years? That’s almost the best you would get but its too short to be spent on things that doesn’t really matter! People make things that fades away a big deal than things that will last forever! People risk their lives for things that had no eternal value because they have a perception that makes them believe without these things they would die!
:
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 14:20 “…think like matured people.” Matured people think of important things and that is where their choices are channeled to. How do spiritual matured people think? The Bible answers that in Philippians 2:4, they look away from themselves and look into others! Not to criticize them but to help them grow! The only time they look down on people is when they’re about picking them up from where they have fallen. Matured people know already that God provides all they need and they aren’t drown in the worries of their need. The psalmist said “the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want”. A matured father is more concerned about his children and so is a matured mother! Only fathers who don’t know their role would be too selfish to neglect their children. In the same way only believers who have come to understand their role gets set to reach out to others instead of themselves.
:
We need to preach this gospel both to the unbelievers and the religious Christians. It is worse to be chained with religion. Many people in Church are still in chains of ignorance and the only antidote to ignorance is knowledge! No wonder God said “my people perish because they lack knowledge”, ignorance sends people to the grave untimely.
:
If Satan cannot destroy you with sin, he will try destroying you with sin consciousness. Satan uses people’s ignorance of what God’s word says about sin and this is what keeps them bound. Like a doctor, God isn’t bent on dealing with the symptoms but the virus itself! When the virus is gone the symptoms leave! God dealt with the sin nature entirely! The knowledge of this liberates you and you see yourself living above the symptoms! For instance, typhoid comes with a lot of symptoms. Some people might decide to take paracetamol to calm their headache but the typhoid is still there! Until the typhoid is treated, the afflictions will surface again.
:
God has prepared us to do the work of the kingdom! We are not fit for it if we are easily distracted from the work Jesus has given us! Like the Bible says in Luke 9:62, forget that business that makes you pray for it every time other than praying for more important things! Some are distracted by their want for children, husband, wife, money and so on that it takes all their time, it’s the only thing they pray about and think about! They find themselves dominated by the wants of this life. But Jesus is saying “forget these things!” As a matter of fact, these things were settled! Forget them, get on with your christian life and you’ll see these things fall into place. Jesus said “do not be worried of what to eat and drink just like pagans do. Your target in heaven knows you need them.”
:
Some spend all their time praying on revivals, thinking the glory of the Lord is gone, asking for the resurface of it but they do nothing other than just pray! Who told you the glory is gone? Who are you then? You’re the glory of God! Go out there and shine! Don’t distract yourself with your feelings, if you let yourself be distracted by feelings, negativities and selfish things, you’re not fit for the kingdom. Anyone who has been distracted from what matters most is like a sick believer, you need medical check up! Renew yourself with God’s word! If it isn’t God’s word, it shouldn’t matter! Refuse to be distracted by relationships, business and so on! If that relationship is making you pray less and do more for the kingdom… Deal with that distraction!
:
Your life is bigger than all the distractions! You can be distracted by your past, by your mistakes and discouragements. It may be sin consciousness… Regardless the weight of it, don’t let it distract you! If you have the gospel to preach, you still have a beautiful life to live! Now its time to rise up and take responsibility of the beautiful life God intends for you! If you have believed the gospel and received the Holy Spirit, you have been empowered from high to do the works of Jesus! Walk through the shames of your past, see them as it doesn’t matter and walk the walk of Jesus! Distraction is the only thing that makes you unfit for the kingdom! In your working place, in your school, in everything you do, find it was an opportunity God has provided for you to declare Him!
:
I will summarize with this, God makes you able and willing to do His will (Philippians 2:13), the distractions to what God is doing in you is not from Him but from the flesh… Usually a result of selfishness! You can’t stay in tune with the Holy Spirit and dance to the beats of the flesh.
