One day, we were driving through the roads of inland town Onitsha when something starting forming pictures in my imaginations, I remembered those times we would laugh at a moron, despise people who has body deformities or even use certain features of a person to judge them. I shook sadly seeing how we all blame people for things that weren’t of their own making.
:
We are not architects of our lives; we are not architects of the forms in which we came to earth. Some things happen without the consent of anyone! If we were to choose how we’d look like before coming to earth, many would have chosen to come in white skin, dark skin, blue eyes, brown eyes, blonde hair and so on but unfortunately, we are not consulted, we are just sent to earth in diverse designs. No one chose to be black or white, they simply chose to admit who they are but whether we admit or not, what we are is obvious to everyone.
:
Why laugh at a child who was born moron? Why mock someone because of the shape of his head, the size of her eyes, the size of her breasts and so on? Why mock people because of the color of their skin? Why mock people because of the part of the world they came from? These and many more weren’t their choices; they were not consulted before they were born like that! It is nobody’s fault that they don’t look so great just as it is not to your credit the way you look.
:
Why think you are better than everyone else just because you seemed to be the most brilliant? Or you are the most beautiful person born from a rich home… Excuse me, no one chose the family they should come from. You are born without your consent and so is everyone else. I remember when people mocked me for my big eyes, nose, mouth, head, palm, foot and so on… One certain time I was inside the room thinking over the jest a teacher made of me in class, it seemed as though it was all my fault that I looked the way I did, it seemed as though I made that choice and it became the wrong choice. That night I was crying in the room when I started wondering “but if anyone is to be blamed for any features of my body, it should be God.” I realized later I am beautiful!
:
Yes, certain factors determine a lot of things but these factors aren’t at the mercies of the unborn child. Beautiful parents would definitely beget beautiful children, if two dark couples make a baby, the baby never chose to be dark but he will obviously be dark if not darker! Should we blame the parents? The parents never made themselves black and it is still God who created that part of them that wants each other so much which led to the making of a baby! Should we now start laughing at people for things they obviously had no power to change?
:
You are not the architect of your life but you’re at the helm of affairs which means you can decide the flow your life follows. Some people with no hands and legs ended up in the street begging for alms, believing they are useless and unable to generate money but some other people with no hands and legs didn’t settle for the expectations of the people, they went extra miles and became CEOs, Public Figures, Inventors and so on. You don’t have to conform to your deformities; you don’t have to give in to people’s criticisms.
:
You wanted to be a model but you were rejected because of the kind of body you have? And you feel like God cheated on you? Oh come on… God made you that way because everyone isn’t going to be a model in the world sense but everyone can actual be a model in their own sense when they chose to be different! I went with a friend to purchase a kit for a 9 days slimming programme. We know the program is effective, we needed no prophet to do that but who sold the kit to us looked very fat! I was wondering how someone would be offering us a solution when she doesn’t use it and I realized it is not everyone that wants to slim down. God never designed everyone to look the same, so why should we mock people for not being the way we want them to be? Why should we always kill ourselves in the fight to be like someone else?

One day I visited an ICT institution in a bid to further my knowledge in ICT and get certificated. The receptionist told me a lot of things I would stand to gain with their certification. I asked her “you are working as a receptionist here, why don’t you resign, apply for the course and enjoy all the benefits you have listed to me” she smiled and responded “well, it is not everyone that wants to be an ICT expert. I enjoy what I do and knowing the benefits of other careers wouldn’t make me become someone else” I caught it!
:
You may not be the architect who constructed your house but it is you who decides how to live in your house. People don’t have to condemn you because you didn’t build their own kind of house. This earth is 70% water but even the 30% land is too big for all of us. Live and let live.

We have always known red roses, they are very popular but not all roses are red and yet all roses are special. That someone doesn’t look great, has deformities or don’t meet your expectations do not change who they are. That someone does not speak like us or have our kind of accent isn’t a reason to mock them! We are all different and people who aren’t like us are not animals! They are made in God’s image and they have the same blessings of God which you have. The problem with some may just be that they have never realized who they. Instead of laughing at people for their big eyes, appreciate their uniqueness!
