Nothing you do changes how God sees you. No amount of sin makes God change from loving you! God will always love you even if you publicly denounce him! I want to make it more strong… If you kill, fornicate, steal and lie at the same time… It doesn’t change how God sees you… The Bible says in Romans 5:8

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

There is no exception to the sinner whom God loves. The style of sin means nothing to God, the nature of sin the parent of any sin from small to big. Therefore no sin looks more strange to God, they are all the same. The man who lied in business is the same with the man who got his homosexual sex tape leaked to the public! So, God has no criteria of loving any man, as long as He made you, He loves you.

But there is a great problem…

Sin changes the way you see God, it changes the way you relate with God and it changes the way nature responds to you because it limits your perception towards life since your life is controlled by your thoughts. The Bible says in Proverbs 14:34

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people”

God does not condemn any people, it is sin that condemns them. When you sin habitually in a deliberate manner, you have subjected the nature around you to be influenced by sin because by sinning, you have accepted the superiority of sin over your life. However, nature may change towards you but God does not change towards you.

Righteousness exalts a nation! Remember, righteousness is not righteous act! Righteousness means being in right standing with God and that can only happen when you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. Truth is, to stand right with God, you must love God.

When Adam and Eve sinned, it didn’t change how God sees them but it changed how they see God. You can recall that God came in a usual manner to spend the day with them but instead of running to the maker for salvation, they were running from Him. God didn’t come shouting concerning their sins, God didn’t approach them with complaint but they were running from God. Their perception of God changed and Adam even began to complain about his wife given to him by God and indirectly he was blaming God and accusing God of imperfection. You see? Sin changed the way he thinks and see life, it changes the way you relate to God and it limits you from receiving from God not because God isn’t giving but because you are beginning to have doubts about God. Let’s see what Paul wrote Romans 12:2

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

From the above portion of God’s word, you’ll quickly discover that people sinning is like copying the customs of this world and when you think like the world, your perception of God changes immediately causing you to be subject to nature’s ruling. For instance, you may have sex for fame and that is because you lost faith in God! You see that? The moment you stop trusting God, you start sinning! And the moment you start sinning it may result to disaster because you have lost faith in God’s ability! Not that God wouldn’t want to save you but because you have lost faith in Him, you have conformed to the world’s way of thinking.

But, the moment you retrace your steps back to God’s word, what it does to you is to change how you think and then transformation starts taking place. The process of transformation in every man takes a lifetime to be complete and so there is no time to ever stop changing the way you think. Every new day is a moment of new discovery. It is when your perception about God becomes correct that you can learn to know God’s will.

How do you change the way you think? It is by meditating on God’s word day and night. This doesn’t necessarily mean to read the Bible day and night, people can read the word forever and it still make less meaning without meditation. Meditation is a practice and action, it is a conscious study and serious pondering on a subject. To meditate God’s word, it means the careful study of God’s word. It affects your confession and how you apply it in your life! By meditation, you give the Holy Spirit the chance to allow that word make meaning to you. Meditation is not done in a hurry.

So, sin doesn’t change God, it changes you… It changes you for the worst! Sin cannot be avoided by just not trying to do it, it can only be avoided by filling your thoughts with God’s word!
