We are just like Christ not because we chose to but because we were made to be like that through the mercies of God! No wonder, the Psalmist saw this and proclaimed
“But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.” Psalms 5:7
He saw a time when we can come into God’s house, into God’s presence as a result of God’s multitude of mercy! That psalm has been fulfilled in Christ! God’s mercy has qualified us in Christ and therefore we can come boldly to God’s throne of Grace to always obtain mercy that has already been given. No wonder the psalmist rejoiced! He wrote
“But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.” Psalm 13:5
Only those who trust in God’s mercy personified in Jesus can rejoice in God’s salvation! This is because God isn’t postponing the date of salvation, God isn’t keeping us in anticipation but rather he have done everything that can be done and everything that cannot be done and there is nothing left he has not done, that is why he declared through Jesus on the cross “it is finished!”
So, being a new creature in Christ is something that cannot be undone! Nothing can change your holy state in Christ except you stop believing! You have exactly the power that Jesus has; you can do everything that Jesus can do. Your spirit doesn’t need to be revived, it don’t need repentance, it don’t need renewal, it as perfect as Jesus Christ! What needs renewal is not your spirit but your mind. What exactly is the mind? The mind is what controls how we live here on earth! A believer who is spiritually perfect may still be living a very sinful life if his mind has not been renewed! When you renew your mind, you begin to live according to the new life you’ve received. When your mind is not renewed, you cannot live out who you have become in Christ and you may continue living your old life because that is where your mind is focused. Paul wrote as he was inspired by the Holy Spirit
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2
Paul was writing to believers, people who are new creatures, people who are just like Christ in their spirit but he was telling them how they can stop acting like people of this world. Without the renewal of the mind there is no transformation, you are physically transformed into what your spirit is when you begin to renew your mind! You are perfect but you cannot prove it when you are not renewed! When you are renewed it becomes prove of what is good, acceptable and perfect will of God!
How do you renew your mind? You renew your mind by studying and meditating on God’s word. When you do that, you are changed to the very image of God’s word that you study. For example, when a boy is born of French parents and the boy begins to grow up in a foreign land, he must be thought how to speak French else he will automatically learn to speak a foreign language! That he has a French blood doesn’t mean he is going to speak French if he doesn’t learn it diligently, that his parents are professors in French language doesn’t really guarantee him that if he doesn’t learn it! He may look like people of France but he may act like Chinese. When he begins to study his culture, language and tradition, you’ll see him being transformed into who he is on the inside. The same thing applies to us! The scripture is our guide and manual, if you don’t meditate on it, you will go on living like the world and you will not be able to operate in the heavenly realm. There is no way a worldly man can bear heavenly result, it is not possible. The bible says
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8
We have always come across this scripture and we have always misinterpreted it. Let me explain it: The laws of God is his word, to meditate on it day and night means to study it and live according to that word! But then there is a revelation here… When you meditate on it, you’re discovering how to operate in the heavenly realm and when you discover it, you see it come alive to your physical body and you apply it for your prosperity! God didn’t promise to make you prosper if you meditate on his word, you are the one that discovers how to prosper and it is you who shall make your way prosperous through God’s word. The Bible says, “…though shall make thy way prosperous…” So, when you renew your mind, you see yourself becoming what you are feeding into your mind. The Bible says
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
When you behold God’s glory, you are changed into the same from glory to glory! Why from glory to glory? Because the more you increase in the knowledge of God’s word the more you act like God!
You are not limited to the earth realm! God’s purpose for you is not to function only on this realm but beyond the earthly realms! It is not about how well you can pray, how well you can fast, how well you can live good life or how well you can try and try again! It is a matter of believing and then acting by what you believe! Grace is God’s part and God has done his part, there is nothing he has not done! Our own part is faith… Do you believe?
Let me tell you a little about the devil. He doesn’t want you to know these truth, he wants you to keep dedicating your nights to fighting and praying against him, he wants you to live in consciousness of him and his diabolic powers, he wants much of your attention to be on him, so that you will have more time for him and less time for God. Why doesn’t he want you to know this? It is because the moment you know you can function beyond the earth realms he becomes powerless to you, the moment you discover that it isn’t a big deal to deal with him he becomes like an ant to you. Therefore, in a bid to restrict you from knowing this he will bring in all kinds of fears, teachings and deliberations, he will make you focus on your problems and challenges of life and he will even make you declare that God isn’t so considerate due to the challenges you have on earthly things. Do you know that Satan didn’t only convince Eve to eat the fruit? Let’s look at what he told Eve
“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:” Genesis 3:4
Remember, God already warned Adam that they will die if they eat of the tree in the middle of the garden and here comes Satan, telling them that they will not die. For Eve to eat that tree she didn’t just find it appealing and tasty but she was also convinced that God is a liar! If she still trusted God, she wouldn’t have eaten of that tree. And they died! They died a spiritual death… This is what Satan is even doing today, he goes about seeking people to deceive, he convinces them that God is lying. For instance, I once showed a boy where the Bible confirms that he can decide what happens in his life and he quickly told me “that is just bible… let’s talk about things that are real.” The young boy is a Christian but at a point he feels the bible is just a book full of words that sympathizes with people’s problem but yet contains no solution, he thought I was only trying to encourage him. That is how many people see the word of God today, they see it as just a mere book that can actually encourage people and yet provides no solution, they don’t really believe all these things as long as they can’t see it with their eyes. Adam and Eve didn’t die physically; they didn’t see death with their physical eyes! This is what the scriptures declares concerning Satan,
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8
The Bible described him so well, he goes about looking for people to devour through his deceits, and he doesn’t rest until he devours someone. In verse 9 the scripture didn’t ask us to fast and shout fire on him so that he can leave, here is what the scripture says
“Whom resist steadfast in the faith…”
It takes faith to resist him, you only need to continue believing in God’s word whether you see and feel it or not. You may find yourself in a very bad situation but you need to continue believing in God’s word, you may be at a point of death where it seems your faith has failed you, you still need to keep on believing! Shedrack, Meshach and Abednego declared that they won’t bow to another God even if God doesn’t save them in the furnace. They knew God can save them but they were ready to continue believing even if they don’t experience salvation in that furnace.
I will be ending this presentation by repeating what Jesus said;
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” John 14:12
