wet dreams

Listen to the Audio Version

Good day sir, I really want to thank you for always being there. I really need your help on this issue. I have wet dreams, and I notice it happens to me each time I am very serious with my Christian life. How do I stop it? It really makes me weak. I have fasted and prayed, I have cried and I have even prayed in other tongues and yet, it is still happening, what do I do sir?

-Emeka, Nigeria

Dear Emeka,

First of all you must understand that you are not the only one in this! I have received questions as this from both ladies and men and many of them are as tired as you are. I am aware of so many teachings that are readily available concerning dreams and its attachments to demonic possession! Those teachings are readily available every where and sometimes sounds convincing. There are other books on dream interpretations where so many kind of emphasis were laid on “wet dreams” and demonic attachments to it. Some ministers will require you to under go a deliverance section if they happen to be the ones counseling you. I am saying the above because some of their teachings may be expected in my answers but I don’t think there would be any relationship with what they teach and mine.

Most wet dreams are biologically normal! I said that? Oh, yes! They are normal… But sometimes they are devilish revelations. From your question, you said you have these dreams whenever you want to get serious with your Christian life. Now, in the context of what you asked, I am sure you have these dreams even when you’ve not feed your brain with erotic scenes that you come across everyday on the road, on the internet, in the music videos and movies.

The problem is not the dream, the problem is actually your mindset! First, you feel wet dreams are “demonic”, the devil capitalizes on that! As long as you are afraid of such dreams, the devil will keep getting it your way to continue to put you in fears and make you conscious of him and sin. You’ll always feel guilty because you feel you are actually having sex with “spirit wife” like some folks will argue.

Also from your question, I discover that you’ve fasted, prayed, spoke in tongues and CRIED. I am sure your cry is either for forgiveness or for weariness. That alone spoils the fasting, the prayer and the speaking in tongues! Thanks to God you speak in tongues anyway! But what am I saying? You’ve not been praying from the place of victory but from the place of fear. You really feel terrible because of your wet dreams and the devil wants you to continue to feel terrible… He is a deceiver! In 2 cor 11:3 Paul wrote

“But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ”

You see that? The devil is very crafty! He comes in such a manner that seem to support the general belief! He comes in a manner we get confused and think it is a sign from heaven. Paul also wrote in verse 14

“No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”

Some people including preachers attach much spiritual significance to disturbing dreams, but that’s not the normal means by which God communicates with us. God spoke through dreams to some people in the past, but even then, it was rare. The principal way through which God communicates to His people is through His word. We can see that in Hebrews 1:1-2

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;”

Additionally, the Scripture advises Christians to be on guard against spirits (fallen angels or demons) that attempt to mislead us. The scripture says in 1 John 4:1.

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

One of the ways that they deceive people is through paranormal activities.

The devil has a scheme and it includes wet dreams. It is not by the dream that he gets at you but through the fears created in you after those dreams. That is why it is important to resist him. How? Paul also told us in Ephesians 6:11

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able
to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

Many thinks of the above verse in a literal way but its not literal! God’s full armour is His word! The only way to resist the scheme of the enemy is not through just reading the word but through the knowledge we get from it! Truth is a knowledge, and it is only the truth that sets one free! You don’t get free by fasting and praying but by getting the truth and applying it!

Some folks may still argue that your dream has much more to do with the devil and yes! I agree! It isn’t a sign from God… The devil is only using a normal thing to bring you into an abnormal situation where you will be subjected to fear. When you are afraid, you can’t fight in place of victory! The bible says we are more than victorious! So, you should pray as one who already won!

You always feel very guilty after these dreams. You shouldn’t! You were washed by the blood of the lamb once and for all. You are holy even after those dreams! That mentality alone keeps you free from fear! The Bible says in Hebrews 10:10

“And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

There are lots of false dreams mentioned in the bible! The dreams where not forgery but really an experience and yet God warned His people against hearkening to false dreams. See this:

“The prophet who has a dream may relate his dream, but let him who has My word speak My word in truth What does straw have in common with grain?” Jeremiah 23:28

You see that? Dreams are permitted to be related but not above God’s word! God’s word remains the standard of reflection and meditation! Don’t meditate over your dreams but over God’s word! Your dreams may say you are unholy but God’s word says you are holy! Now, when you confess God’s word even after being tempted by dreams to fear, all you do is to keep saying God’s word!

Jesus resisted the Devil’s temptation, not by fasting and Praying, not by crying or speaking in other tongues but by telling the Devil what God’s word is saying concerning every situation! The scriptures are not a product of dream but a product of the Holy Spirit himself! God also said in Jeremiah 23:27

“who intend to make My people forget My name by their dreams which they relate to one another, just as their fathers forgot My name because of Baal?”

Wow! Its good to know what God’s word is saying concerning every situation. Some dreams are meant to distract people from God and focus on the devil! A more profound statement is found in Ecclesiastic 5:7, it says

“For in many dreams and in many words there is emptiness. Rather, fear God.”

It is better to reverence God than to focus on our empty dreams. Jude wrote

“Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile angelic majesties.” Jude 1:8

Having said the above, I do not mean that God doesn’t speak to people through dreams and visions but it is important to note that God doesn’t need our dreams to communicate to us but rather His word is complete! So, any contradictory dream is not to be considered as worthy of our time.

What do you do then? Wet dreams can be a product of the thoughts and daily activities during the day. The Bible said in Ecclesiastes 5:3

“For a dream cometh through the multitude of business…”

If you are giving to pornography, romance movies, novels, songs and affairs… It is important you quit them because those things can reflect in your dreams.
Since dreams can be product of our daily activities you should have to set your mind only on godly things and things that are good! The Bible says in Collosians 3:2

“Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”

Paul also wrote in Phillipians 4:8

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Your thoughts can only be word-based when you read and study God’s word daily! George’s Diary can help you do that! There are loads of teachings on George’s Diary that you reflect on, on daily basis! The more you train yourself in God’s word, the more you stand firm.

Stop feeling guilty and don’t consider those dreams a threat to your salvation! From your question, I so much understood that you are so afraid of what the outcome of your dream is. Perhaps, you’ve heard of spiritual wife and husband… Perhaps you heard that it is a process of demonic initiation! Don’t mind the devil, he is using your mind to play because you’ve allowed him to take dominance in your mind through fear! Since you are in Christ, you are a new creature! Even if there was anything done in the past, old things are passed away and behold, all things are new! You are new everyday!

Having learnt this, next time you have a wet dream, do not become afraid or guilty! When you pray, pray from the place of victory not from the place of defeat! Prayer makes no sense without the right mindset! When the devil realizes you ain’t giving him chances anymore, he leaves you alone! He tempted Jesus, not once, not twice and not thrice but as many as he could but Jesus kept resisting him with the word! Resist the devil and he will flee!

I hope this helped you? Don’t forget to send in your testimonies. Have a lovely day ahead or a lovely sleep depending from the location where you are reading from.

I pray that you continue to grow in the Knowledge of God’s word.

Stay blessed!

  1. I am glad Mr George for your answer.. My faith has increased ..I had a wet dream too but i woke up at once and declared it will never affect me in anyway by the blood of Jesus Christ…

Please. George Allow me to ask you some advice over my dreams..

George, In my dreams i see my see my self always leading songs in a big church.

I also speak in tongues in dreams but i dont speak it physical , I have prayed and raised dead person in dream,
i have given birth to a boy from my stomach in dream. (But i am not a female ).
I have dream for people and they confirm it to be true.

I have dream of someone i know died and truly he died after a month..

I have prophecy to people in dream, and recently in my dream i was told to stop eating meat but only vegetable and fruits which i am doing now..

Please do i have a call? Do i need a prophet to lay hand on me so i can manifest my calling? I have the zeal for God but i know i am not fully living holy.. Please i need direction from you.

    1. Thanks for taking time to visit my blog and read through the article. I am also glad is was helpful to you.

Considering your question, I believe everyone has a call and I believe everyone was not called to do the same thing… It all depends on what you were called to do. I will be saying some few things here and I believe it will help you.

Speaking in tongues is a sign that someone has received the Holy Spirit. Far from speaking it in the dream you need to speak it in reality. If you are already a Christian all you need is to pray and believe in your heart that you have received the holy Spirit. I recommend this article for you (https://georgennad.wordpress.com/2015/11/19/speaking-in-tongues/)

Concerning other things you are seeing in your dream, it may be a direction to what you are called to do. However, everything you do must be based on God’s word with your absolute trust in him.

You don’t need any Prophet to lay hands for you to start function in the capacity God wants you to function in. You just need to believe God, trust him and do what he asked you to do. Feel free to ask more questions… Perhaps a direct question and I will be glad to give you answers by God’s grace.
