This article will interestingly deal with something that affects many Christians including ministers and pastors, it causes hindrance and affects them from developing intimacy with God.

It is evidently the root causes for the lack of power in people lives and in the Church as a while! Don’t look at me with that eye! The Church is deficient of power! I am talking about something that hindered my Christian walk for a long time. I am talking of nothing but SIN CONSCIOUSNESS!

“I’m just an old sinner saved by Grace”, that is not wholesomely untruthful. Yes! We are saved by Grace. However, when a born-again believer says, “I’m just an old sinner”, it is, in reality, an insult and a slap in the face of God and His work of grace.

Romans 6:6-7 tell us,

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him (Christ), that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin; For he that is dead is freed from sin.”

The moment Jesus died and went to hell on our behalf, he completely and utterly destroyed the power of sin. The moment of our acceptance to the Lordship and salvation of Jesus, every thing he obtained for our sake actually becomes ours.

Therefore, Paul tells us in Romans 5:11, 14.

“Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. For sin SHALL NOT HAVE DOMINION OVER YOU; for ye are not under the law, but under grace”

The word “RECKON” means to “consider something to be something” or “to suppose something to be true”. Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit is that we are to consider the statement to be true, that we are absolutely dead to sin! We should not consider ourselves as sinners any longer. In Christ, we have been made the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21), let’s go a bit further on this subject.

I am trying my best not to make it seem as if I am promoting the doctrine of hyper-Calvanism! But with respect to what Paul was saying in 2 Corinthians 5, David also wrote in Psalms 103:12 says,

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

Do you know how far East is from the west? It is forever! Because if you start going east you’ll never get to west! Ponder over it. Now, that’s very far! More gloriously, in Romans 10:17 Paul declares concerning part of the covenant God makes with us,

“THEIR SINS AND INIQUITIES WILL I REMEMBER NO MORE.”

If God, our most Holy and Righteous Father, doesn’t even remember our sins when we repent and confess them, then who are we to bring them up again? Bringing up the issues of things that had been settled means telling God that we consider his words true and credible! We are declaring that the sacrifice of Jesus did not give us total victory over sin! That is exactly what the Bible considers blasphemy! Developing close relationship with God is not possible if we don’t trust him enough or believe what his word says! Is we always think about settled issues, were will never stand with confidence and boldness in God’s presence.

Ask any father you can find, it hurts them when their children are timid and afraid to reach out to them or ask for something because they feel they are not worth it! I can remember such mentality made me far from my father! He never liked it! Come to think of it? How much more does it grieve our most living heavenly father when we act in such manner?

We should come to a point in our walk with God where we believe, and KNOW, that our sins were forgiven and remembered no more. Hebrews 10:2 declared,

“That the worshippers (that’s us) once purged (from sin) SHOULD HAVE NO MORE CONSCIENCE OF SINS.”

It doesn’t get more plain than that! Once we settle this in our hearts we can do what Hebrews 4:16 says,

“Let us therefore COME BOLDLY UNTO THE THRONE OF GRACE, that we may obtain mercy and find grace in our time of need.”

Romans 8 did not day something different! It sums it all up!

“There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION to them in Christ Jesus, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus HAS MADE ME FREE from the law of sin and death.”

If you have read my previous articles on HOLINESS, you’ll discover that God wants you tho be Holy and he has actual provided you a sure way to be Holy! The ear is over, the Devil had been defeated!
